Intraoperative image guidance for endoscopic spine surgery

چکیده

Endoscopic spine surgery is a burgeoning component of the minimally invasive surgeon's armamentarium. The goals invasive, and likewise endoscopic, include providing equivalent or better patient outcomes compared to conventional open surgery, while minimizing soft tissue disruption, blood loss, postoperative pain, recovery time, time return normal activities. A multitude indications for utilization endoscopy throughout spinal axis now exist, with applications both decompression as well interbody fusion. That being said, requires many surgeons learn completely new skill set associated learning curve may be substantial. Fluoroscopy most common imaging modality used in endoscopic localization pathology access. Recently, use navigation has been reported effective, preliminary data supporting decreased operative times radiation exposure, improvements curve. further development recent interest combining robotic guidance endoscopy, particularly respect endoscopic-assisted lumbar While there currently paucity literature evaluating these image modalities, they are gaining traction, future research innovation will likely focus on technologies.

Economics of image guidance and navigation in spine surgery

BACKGROUND Image-guidance and navigation in spinal surgery is becoming more widely utilized. Several studies have shown the use of this technology to increase accuracy of pedicle screw placement, decrease the rates of revision surgery, and minimize radiation exposure. In this paper, the authors analyze the economics of image-guided surgery (IGS) and navigation in spine surgery. METHODS A lite...

Endoscopic Spine Surgery

Surgical treatment of the degenerative disc disease has evolved from traditional open spine surgery to minimally invasive spine surgery including endoscopic spine surgery. Constant improvement in the imaging modality especially with introduction of the magnetic resonance imaging, it is possible to identify culprit degenerated disc segment and again with the discography it is possible to diagnos...

Miniature robotic guidance for spine surgery

Instrumented spinal fusion surgery is increasingly performed in the treatment of degenerative disorders, Spondylolisthesis, deformity, trauma and tumors affecting the spine (Davis, 1994; Katz, 1995). In-vitro and In-vivo studies using the free hand or fluoroscopically assisted techniques documented breaching of the pedicle in 3-55% (Amiot et al., 2000; Belmont et al., 2001; Belmont et al., 2002...

[Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring in spine surgery].

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) makes it possible to determine the status of neurological function during surgery. It guides the surgeon and minimises the risk of injury. This paper describes the different techniques available for IONM in spine surgery (somatosensory evoked potentials, motor evoked potentials, neurography, electromyography, reflexes and dermatomic evoked pot...

Inflatable device for intraoperative control extension in cervical spine surgery.

procedure to treat various pathologies of the cervical spine. One of the keys to successful cervical spine surgery is an appropriate positioning, specifically appropriate degree of extension of the cervical spine. At times, the cervical spine extension may have to be altered intra-operatively, which make most of the products that are used to achieve cervical spine extension suffer from some dis...
